A truly exceptional 1949 MG TC, chassis number TC9164, delivered new to Mr Douglas Walker on 2nd August 1949, this UK-supplied TC retains it's original Buff logbook and is a genuine matching numbers example. Lovingly restored over the past 57 years, this MG has undergone a meticulous and sympathetic restoration. The engine has been comprehensively rebuilt by renowned specialist Peter Edney, incorporating a lead-free conversion, lightened flywheel, increased compression ratio to 9:1 and full balancing. The result is a TC that not only retains it's period character but delivers performance and refinement. The car has covered just 120 miles since completion, so still running in – but already, it is without question the finest T-Series driving experience I’ve encountered. This car boasts an uncommonly clean and detailed underside, reflecting the level of care that has gone into every aspect of it's restoration – truly a labour of love. Removed from the road in 1968 by former owner Chris Howard, it remained a treasured, long-term project until completed just last month by myself. The work was clearly carried out with patience and devotion, and it shows in every detail. Only three former keepers, it comes with a superb history file, including invoices dating back to 1969, a current V5C and a selection of spares. Finished in the ever-classic Woodland Green with a beautifully trimmed Tan leather interior, this MG TC is elegant, engaging, and a joy to drive. Presently fitted with seatbelts, brake lights and indicators - these could easily be removed if not to the new owners taste. The TC was the first post-war MG, and though it shared much with it's pre-war TB predecessor – including the iconic 1,250cc XPAG engine – the TC introduced a wider body and improved ride via hydraulic dampers.
