MG A 1600 - €39,950
With MG instruction manual Car ready to drive; in impeccable condition Two carburetors that feed the car harmoniously The MG A was in production from 1955 to 1962. It was the first car from the hands of MG designers who brought with it early yet recognizable and functional aerodynamics. After the return to world peace following the Second World War, MG only returned to their conventional by producing the MG Y and the MG T. The MG T had the pleasure of being followed by the MG A, which ultimately captivated hearts for decades. Even today, it is still highly coveted because it defined British automotive history. MG did not suffer much financially during the four years of war as they focused on building aircraft components, maintaining war tanks and distributing weapons. There were therefore no financial injuries and they had the means to boldly launch into a completely innovative concept. They designed the MG A in 1951 and the new design diverged so much from MG's usual approach, they decided to 'start from scratch'. Absolutely, in its purest form, because 'A' is not just by chance the first letter of the Latin alphabet. The MG A was finally revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. It was atypical for MG with sporty and luxurious appearance and performance. Under the hood was a 1489 cc four-cylinder engine, model code '1500', producing 72 horsepower. After four years of production, in 1959 the engine displacement was increased to 1588 cc, creating the new 'MG A 1600'. The following year it was upgraded to 1622 cc, also increasing its power. Between 1958 and 1960, a high-performance sports variant was built with 2ACT and high compression, demonstrating its best performance on the track and winning. In 1962, the MG A was replaced by the equally iconic and famous MG B. In total, around one hundred thousand MG A were sold. MG A 1600 The MG A 1600 was produced from 1959 and it was equipped with a larger 1.6 liter engine, as the name suggests. The larger displacement engine produced more power and was therefore more efficient. Additionally, it had disc brakes on the front wheels. This had not been the case in previous MG A models. Among other aesthetic improvements, the A 1600 could easily be distinguished by the presence of a '1600' badge on the rear trunk. Around 31,000 units of the MG A were produced, making it relatively easy to find spare parts, thanks in part to its immense success.
