Launched in 1956 as a stablemate to the 500cc TR5 Trophy, the TR6 was a legendary dual-purpose motorcycle, popular in the US The 1956 model used a 649cc air-cooled, 42bhp parallel-twin based on the Tiger T110 and fitted with the new 'Delta' aluminium-alloy cylinder head, a high performance camshaft and a single Amal carburettor Low final gearing, wide-ratio gearboxes and a high-level exhaust meant that both models were suitable for daily use but were particularly capable off-road The popularity of the TR6 Trophy influenced the design of its sibling, the Triumph Bonneville.
