Inspired by the AC Cobra, which was effectively the British AC Ace sportscar powered by the large American Ford 4.2 litre, V8, the Sunbeam Tiger first saw the light of day in 1964. Based upon the Rootes Group, Sunbeam Alpine, the Tiger, with the Ford power plant slotted into the engine bay, became what is surely one of motoring's true 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. With stunning performance due not only to the mighty V8 but also thanks to the lightweight Alpine shell, Tigers are sought-after for collectors and enthusiasts.

This late Mk. I Tiger was originally supplied to a Mr. Evans in March 1967 in Sudbury and has been in our vendors ownership for 20 years, always cherished as a weekend car during that time, with no shortage of money lavished on it to keep it in the excellent condition it's in today. The exterior is finished in white and presents very well overall, with just a few age-related blemishes and excellent brightwork. Also included is a very desirable hard top, which was restored and retrimmed a few years ago and is also in superb condition. Both are complemented by a red interior, also in very good order, with a wooden rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel. The car has been fitted with ventilated disc brakes, vastly improving the stopping power. The history file is full of invoices for various parts over the years, the largest invoice coming from December 2020, when the engine was subject to a rebuild costing £6,500. This Tiger is ready to be enjoyed this summer and will be dearly missed by our vendor. Supplied to auction with V5C registration document, a Heritage Certificate from the Rootes archive, a wealth of bills and invoices and a record of all previous seven owners, as well various older MoT test certificates and a current MoT valid until April 2026. Consigned by Fraser Smith
