This extraordinary bespoke Mini began life as a white 1275cc Rover Mini ‘Italian Job’ first registered in January 1993. By 2007 the car had 65,000 miles but was in poor condition. The new owner began a rebuild in which the body was stripped back to a bare shell and several new panels were fitted. The engine and gearbox were both fully rebuilt. The car was then restored as a special customised example inspired by the legendary Tango soft drink advertisements of the early 1990s. The new look featured wide wheels and arches with a bespoke interior. At first it was run as a daily car but later became more of a cherished Classic car. It was sold again in 2016 and rarely used over the next few years until 2020 when the last owner purchased the car. Since that time there has been a further £10,000 investment in replacement parts and upgrades. The body shell is painted in two pack Tango orange with custom decals and stripes. The body panels replaced included the front wings, A-panels, scuttle, sills, bonnet and boot. Various previously chromed parts were painted black. The A Series engine was bored to 1293 cc and skimmed 30 thou to achieve a target compression ratio of 10-1. The cylinder head was ported and a Sportex LCB manifold was fitted. It has a sports coil with ballast Ignition, a four-core radiator with electric fan, a 70-amp alternator, Cibie fog lamps, and a high-level brake light on the rear parcel shelf. The Mini has a K&N air filter, an electronic distributor and a Powerlight high-torque inertia-type starter. The exhaust system is a Sportex 2-inch twin DTM centre exit. The gearbox is still standard but was rebuilt with new bearings. The suspension has Hi-Los all round with Minispares Evolution donuts and Protech adjustable shock absorbers. The front subframe has solid mounts. It has a rear heritage subframe, maintenance free front ball joints and both adjustable track rods and front lower arms it is also fitted with KAD rear negative camera brackets. Braking is with the Minisport 40th anniversary four-pot alloy calipers on grooved and vented 8.4-inch twin discs. The rear has mini fin spacer drums and mini sport Cooper 5 mm spacer and stud kit. The wheels are JBW mini light 12-inch. Tires are Yokohamas. The interior is also rather special. The dash is custom with voltmeter, gear change indicator, brake fluid indicator with buzzer, clock, ignition switch. The door furniture includes polished alloy fittings. Both the carpet and the headliner are by Newton commercial - their MK3 kit in black with stainless bands. The steering wheel is a 13-inch leather wrapped polished alloy Moto Lita on a polished alloy boss. The gear knob and handbrake a carbon effect. The boot lid is custom fitted with a trim panel featuring the tire tools and sealant mounted on it. The electrics were improved with a new loom and a fuse board which is now underneath the dash. There is also a Wolfbox G840 S mirror dash cam and camera fitted. The audio system features a Pioneer Radio/CD with Bluetooth. There is a 400-Watt JBL amplifier mounted in the boot. Front speakers are JL tweeters mounted on the dash there are also a rear shelf speaker, 6 x 9" Pioneers, and subwoofers in speaker boxes fitted under the rear seat. Further detailed improvements include wheel arches modified for greater tyre clearance. New evolution suspension cones all round. New Protech polished alloy gas adjustable dampers all round. Japanese maintenance free ball joints were added. The lower front fogs are fitted with custom modified Harley Davidson alloy headlamp grills. It has a space saver genuine mini spare wheel and custom Tango decals on the wheels, on the rocker cover and bonnet. Not only is this an absolutely stunning car to look at with an absolutely beautiful paint finish, but it also is a car that really does drive as good as it looks. Compared to a contemporary standard Mini Cooper, this is just sensational to drive. This is a Mini to turn heads everywhere and an absolute magnet on the show field. This little gem has all the makings of someone's very special Christmas present!
