1934 Packard Eight 11th Series Phaeton RHD Chassis number: 1101 378364 Reg: BMF175 Mileage: 80844 Vintage & Prestige are proud to offer this magnificent 1934 Packard Eight 11th Series Phaeton. The Packard Eight is beautifully presented in Cream Livery with Brown coachlining and brown leather interior, with factory fitted Marchal Lighting, Lucas trumpets horns, twin side-mounted spare wheels and rear view mirrors and a useful rear luggage carrier. This 1934 Packard Eight was originally supplied in RHD, produced in Canada, to be supplied to the UK Market. It is, as far as we know, the only 711 Phaeton bodied 11th series Packard Eight supplied in UK, and also the first 711 body to be produced in Canada. This Packard was originally exported to London agents Leonard Williams and first registered with Middlesex County Council on 19th April 1934. Its early history is not recorded however it is believed to have been sold in the 1950s by Le Mans racer Duncan Hamilton to a Richard Walsh of Peaslake, Surrey, passing then via R.Burn of Woking into preservation with Harry Shell of Hertfordshire, Hon.Sec. of the Classic American Auto Club of G.B. Shell sold the car to fellow American car aficionado, the late Colin Buckmaster of Suffolk, and it was he who commissioned the no expense spared restoration, much of the work being entrusted in the 1970s to respected restorer Arthur Archer. Many of the restoration bills are on file and are worthy of inspection, both Archer and Buckmaster being sticklers for detail. The car featured on the front cover and in Editor Michael Brisby's road test in The Automobile magazine in August 1984. Buckmaster was later to turn his attention to Stutz motor cars and in 1985 Jack Tattersall prised the Packard away from Buckmaster, the car remaining in the Tattersall motor house for some twenty five years – an indication of the esteem in which this car was held by this collector/connoisseur. With its King of the road presence the Packard Eight moves smoothly and elegantly on the road, making close to no noise whatsoever, as shown in pictures, the engine, while running, makes only about 55dbs of noise, making you doubt if it’s running at any given time. The Packard Eight, was the in-between range back in 1934, sitting over the Six engine and below the Twin Six engines, without sparing any of the top luxury features fitted to the Twin six such as Vacuum-servo assisted Bendix 4 drum mechanical brakes and the Luvax-Bijoux automatic chassis lubrication system . That said it proves itself to be extremely smooth and quiet at all times and makes the car glide through the three speed syncro-meshed gearbox flawlessly and effortlessly. A massive document folder is present to complement this magnificent Packard Eight. All the invoice from 1971 to today are present and the amount of money spent on the Packard is simply eye-watering. In recent years, more than 40k have been spent on the car with marque specialists West Hoathley Garage to make it absolutely immaculate and in concours conditions. This stunning 1934 Packard Eight 11th Series Phaeton is ready to be seen and driven away in our showroom in Northampton. You have to see & drive this car to appreciate how good it is & how silently it runs. It is close to perfection & compares very favorably with similar Rolls Royce & Bentley Tourers of the period having the refinement of the former & the performance of the latter.
