1964 Mercedes-Benz 220B (W111 Fintail) Finished in a lovely shade of Grey that makes the chrome work look even more impressive! The interior is as lavish as you’d expect! The cream leather goes perfectly with the champagne carpets and both contrast well against the wood, black dash surround and door tops. A RHD factory car that was delivered new to Paris and almost 54 years in Nice until 2018 when it was registered in the UK. Please scroll down the advert on my website to see the history documents and Mercedes-Benz build info. The odometer shows around 124,000kms which translates to 77,000 miles, un-confirmed of course, but it is certainly in-line with the cars overall condition. I think 220’s are fantastic value for money considering the build quality and impressive engineering that went into them. Looking through the history file and looking on-line, looking after it seems less expensive than the majority of 60’s cars. Power comes from a 2.2 6 cylinder M127 straight six engine with a manual gearbox. It is a lot of fun to drive with the column gear change and the horizontal instrument cluster, the steering is positive and handling is stable. After reading up on it’s 95hp output I was very surprised to find considerably better performance than I expected, possibly due to a lower kerb weight than the size suggests at a claimed 1320kgs. It has had the a good amount of maintenance carried out since it arrived in the UK. A new exhaust was fitted and the carburettor rebuilt along with a new fuel pump, the coolant hoses have been replaced, an engine service was carried out including spark plugs and a fuel filter, the gearshift bushes have also been replaced. Cosmetically it has had attention to the paintwork which presents well, a few marks to the body means it is not in show condition. The chrome is in good order throughout bar a ding on one bumper corner It has had fresh whitewall’s and a new windscreen rubber. The interior is in very good condition throughout, again not concours as a lot is original which I think is much more charming than it all being new. It had a very high quality carpet set fitted in 2019 with new underlay. The history file contains lots of original documents and paperwork including an original service booklet containing service records from 1964 through to 1977, a European service locator booklet, original owners handbook and original parts catalogue .
