A rare opportunity to own a very unique Jaguar E-type V12 Roadster that was tuned in period by The Forward Engineering Co. LTD. Forward Engineering was founded by Ronald Beaty, a former Jaguar engine development engineer who became renowned for his talents in transforming 6cyl & 12cyl engines. Chassis # 1S2727 is presented in it's original colour of 'Pale Primrose Yellow', retains all of it's original panels, and has never been welded due to the original owner having the forethought to ensure Ziebart rust proofing was carried out before the car hit the road new. The original black trim was replaced in period with a set of cloth Recaro seats, which I think suit the car well and are very comfortable and supportive. It was factory ordered with sun 'dym' glass and accessorised by the dealer with a radio/stereo, headrests, locking petrol cap, anti-freeze, Ziebart underseal and a painted hardtop. A raft of tasteful modifications have been carried out to improve performance and handling. Custom made 'Minilte' alloys finished in satin grey cover ventilated front disks on alloy bells. The rear arches have been extended to make room for the wider rear tyres, the suspension has been upgraded to Koni springs & dampers and anti roll bar drop links and lower control arms have been upgraded. The engine was tuned in period by Forward engineering and now has 6 Weber IDF down draft carbs with stainless steel tubular manifolds and a throaty but sensible custom exhaust system. In 1976 the car was fitted with a set of Wolfrace wheels (as seen in the photos) and a rollbar. In the more recent invoices you will see the car had new brake pipes in 2008, a gearbox oil seal and a suspension overhaul with new Koni springs & dampers all-round was done in 2016 while the car was basking in the Marbella sun! In 2023 an overhaul lasting 200 hours was carried out by Historic Motorsport, to include a replacement hardtop, steering wheel, custom made wheels and replacement tyres, carbs rebuilt, 2x new airboxes, a new Denso alternator and a freshening up of some of the paintwork, a copy of the works are in the documents section. There is a huge amount of history with the car, plenty of period and recent service records and MOT certificates from 1978-1989, then 2002/2003/2009/2012 & 2013 to back up the cars extremely low mileage. Please scroll down to the documents section where you can view the original order form, service booklets and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Within the history file is a Jaguar parts catalogue dated 1974, which I'm sure will come in very handy in the future. Although there is no invoice in the history file for the engine work, there is a fantastic period photo with it's rear squatted down ahead of an XJS in a drag race, a clearly well aged sticker in the engine bay, and most importantly even a short drive tells you it's no standard 5.3 V12!! It was ordered new and kept for almost 4 years by it's first owners, a solicitors letter shows it's ownership was transferred from wife to husband in October 1978. The husband promptly sold the vehicle to fund a property in December 1978 to it's 3rd registered keeper but arguably 2nd owner Robert Atkin. Please scroll down to the documents section where you can read the letter written by Captain Schleiter containing information of the sale. Mr Atkin kept the car for 30 years until 2009 when the car was registered to Robert's son who enjoyed it (for some years in Southern Spain) for 13 years taking it's total time in the family to 43 years! In 2022 my father purchased the car from Julian becoming it's 5th registered keeper.
