I didn't think I'd type this, but 449 UXA my S1 is up for sale... I'm getting a 101 and don't have the time or space for two classics, so it's time for a new keeper for my 88". One family owner prior to myself. Featured in Legend back in 2006 shortly after I purchased it, and LRO magazine in 2007. Chassis, bulkhead and bodywork are all original. All straight and very patinated! No filler anywhere! New Radfords rear x-member fitted in 2021 and the Radfords bulkhead top rail was replaced in 2006 when I put it back on the road. Currently fitted with a hard top (has not had windows fitted). It was originally canvas, and I have the hoops, canvas & a fume curtain with it as well. Engine is a 2. 5 petrol from a 1987 110. Fitted with a 4-into-1 stainless manifold (ACR I think) which is connected to a stainless exhaust (made by Powerflow) which follows the standard route but is the correct larger diameter for the engine. Ignition system is a Megajolt system. Carb is the Weber twin-choke which as been rebuilt middle of last year (by Fuggles Fettling) and had a new fuel pump at the same time. Fairey overdrive fitted. Recently had new LED headlights. Radiator was recored last year. Front axle is original. Rear axle is a S2 but I have the original in storage. Diffs are Rover 4. 3:1 in both axles to give a sensible increase in speed without losing the bottom end low range for off-road work. Wheels are all original and dated Mar or Apr 57. Tyres fitted are Nankang and look a bit chunkier than th ones in the pics. Parabolic springs fitted. AVM free wheeling hubs fitted. Usually I'd say it would run happily at 70 on the motorway but at the moment I'm struggling to get it to run right. It feels like the timing is out. I've disconnected the LPG intake in case that was part of the issue but it wasn't, so I'm stumped now! To be honest, with the recent house move and impending purchase of a 101 I haven't put the time and energy into getting it sorted!
