1982 LAND ROVER 88 COUNTY DIESEL - £19,995

This Land Rover Series III 88 County two and a quarter diesel presents well just 3 years on from its fantastic body off restoration. The Landy was supplied new in 1982 and it had been a trusty and reliable 4x4 for 40 years before being subject to a fantastic restoration. SRR 617X was restored when it had covered 70,000 miles as shown on the MOT records following the beautiful body off rebuild. The 2.25L Diesel engine was fully stripped back to the bare block, professionally recommissioned and has only covered 300 miles since. The photographs taken throughout the rebuild show the body being removed and the chassis being galvanised and the bulkhead being restored. New doors were fitted as the only panels that were replaced to keep this beautiful Landy as original as possible. The braking system was completely overhauled with new brake pipes, master cylinder, and servo. The suspension was thoroughly inspected, replaced or reconditioned, and re-bushed as required. The full exhaust system had been renewed. The full interior was treated to a fantastic retrim with the door cards matching the leatherwork of the 3 front seats and 4 folding rear seats with inertia reel seatbelts all round. The exterior was nicely painted, and the original bumpers were galvanised to ensure a superbly presented finished article. The story of Land Rover began in 1947 after the Second World War when Rovers Chief Designer began a plan to produce a small agricultural vehicle due to their current lineup of luxury cars not being as in-demand following the War. Throughout the development of the Land Rover offering, the brief was consistent in the desire to build long lasting motor vehicles. Land Rover began production of the Series I in 1948, and the way was paved for some fantastic stories to follow such as JUE 477 the oldest surviving Series 1. The Series II saw a new engine and some styling enhancements although there were many overlaps with the former of the Series. By 1976 the 1,000,000th Land Rover rolled off the production line in the shape of a Series III. The County was introduced in 1982 that was designed to appeal to the user of the Land Rover who utilised the vehicle more for leisure. The County featured some softer furnishings and some sound proofing ensuring a slightly less agricultural ride.
