JAGUAR XK 150 This is a highly desirable ?SE? model which retains matching chassis and engine numbers. The car has been driven just 2,000 dry weather miles since emerging from a meticulous, show quality restoration by marque specialists Bristol Classic & Sports Cars. The final iteration of the XK sports car line and the last Jaguar to carry a separate chassis, the XK150 was introduced in May 1957. While its use of independent torsion-bar front suspension, a 'live' leaf-sprung rear axle and rack-and-pinion steering mirrored the practice of its XK140 predecessor, the new model benefited from all-round Dunlop disc brakes. Stylistically, the XK150 was brought up-to-date with less ostentatious curves and a larger, wrap-around single piece windscreen. The dashboard was altered, eschewing wood trim for padded leather. With the E-type still very much under development, Jaguar was keen to sustain the sporting reputation that a remarkable five Le Mans victories had earned it. Initially powered by a 3442cc derivative of the marque's race-proven DOHC straight-six engine, the XK150 was available in Fixed-Head Coupe [FHC], Open Two-Seater [Roadster] and Drop-Head Coupe [DHC] guises. More expensive than the other body styles, the DHC boasted occasional rear seats and a fully lined hood/roof. The 'SE' included the following upgrades: B-type cylinder head, twin-exhaust system and wire wheels. With a claimed 210hp on tap, the 'SE' 3.4 litre cars were reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and 124mph. Total XK150 DHC production amounted to just 2,672 cars for all RHD and LHD versions plus all 3.4 litre and 3.8 litre variants. Unsurprisingly, they are highly prized. This is quite simply one of the nicest XK150 DHC models. It emerged from a two-year long restoration by marque specialists Bristol Classic & Sports Cars in 2016. A testament to the quality of the Jaguar?s work and Bristol Classic & Sports Car?s expertise, the car was stripped to a bare chassis, bodywork and engine before being painstakingly refurbished. Thoroughly overhauled, its matching numbers 3.4 litre straight-six DOHC engine was allied to a later ?S? triple carburetor cylinder head and four-speed manual plus overdrive transmission for increased drivability. The steering, suspension and four-wheel disc brakes were reconditioned, renewed or improved as necessary and a new wiring loom installed. Repainted in period perfect classic British Racing Green livery, the car also gained a totally re-trimmed interior in Biscuit, a new Black hood, re-plated chrome and new polished stainless steel wire wheels, shod with brand new tyres. The resulting machine is impressive to say the least and has covered a mere 2,000 dry weather miles since the completion of its meticulous, show quality restoration. It is only reluctantly being offered for sale due to a change in the owner?s plans. This very special Jaguar has been further fettled by Bristol Classic & Sports Cars prior to its sale. Worthy of close inspection, the car will be accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, history file, numerous photographs chronicling its rejuvenation, an owner service handbook, Jaguar workshop manual, XK owner parts catalogue and collector edition parts catalogue. Specification and Enhancements History The car was manufactured 24 August 1959 and despatched to Jaguar Cars, New York, USA 11 September 1959. The last known registration in the USA was 23 August 1981 in Greenville Michigan. The vehicle was purchased from a dealer in New York 19 June 2014 and arrived in the UK 8 August 2014 and taken to Bristol Classic & Sports Cars, Kenn, Clevedon, Bristol 15 August 2014. The DVLA authorised UK registration 3 December 2015 and allocated the registration mark 244 UYO. It is classed as an historic vehicle and is therefore exempt from tax, MOT and all CAZ and ULEZ zones. Restoration The decision to undertake a full ?nut and bolt? restoration was taken 28 September 2014. Work started 8 October 2014 and was completed 25 July 2016.
