Built as a 4.2-litre Series 1 XJ6 in 1970, diverted to Jaguar’s Experimental Department and converted with a 5.3-litre V12, four Stromberg carburettors and a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive Finished in Jaguar Dark Blue with light grey leather trim, retaining steel wheels, chromed bumpers, bonnet mascot, thin-rimmed steering wheel, wood dash inlay and a 160mph speedometer Features include modified inner wings, aluminium trunking for wiring and deletion of the rear bench to accommodate test equipment Believed to be the prototype for a Series 1 XJ12 Manual that never reached production and registered right-hand drive with chassis number and badging for a 4.2 XJ6 Off the road since 1982 following its last MOT in 1981 at 59,617 miles with evidence of the engine running in 2013 although cylinder head work is required.
