Motodrome offer this timewarp original 1966 Jaguar Mark II 3.4 manual with overdrive It’s a very original, matching number example and, unlike 99% of MKII’s on the road, has never been derelict, rebuilt or restored, has had just 2 private owners from new, and has an odometer reading of 79000. Chassis 170530DN is an original RHD example, first registered 3rd March 1966 to a Micheal Baker of Chelmsford. He kept her for 17 years and just over 70000 miles. In 1983, the last owner strolled past a dealer in Southend, who had just taken it in part exchange, and, both loving Jaguars and having some money in his pocket, bought it on the spot. Even over 40 years ago, he knew he had something a bit special, and hence thereafter it’s always been garaged and only bought out for occasional runs and shows, and has covered just over 8000 miles since Finished in it’s original colour scheme of Sherwood Green with Suede Green leather. Being a 1966 model it was equipped from new with the all-synchromesh gearbox, and refreshingly in my opinion still sports it’s original steel wheels with hubcaps. Also fitted with period wing mirrors and the original radio, and the very rare wind-out radio aerial, which still functions. In over 30 years experience of classic Jaguars, I’ve never come across one thus fitted. Exterior-wise it doesn’t seem to have ever had a complete respray, (although after 58 years it’ll doubtless have had a little remedial paintwork) hence after all this time there are one or two excusable minor blemishes, but the paintwork still looks vibrant as the photos attest. The panel fit is superb, especially the doors, as you’d expect with an original one The body doesn’t appear to me to have had any welding, bar around 3 out of 4 of the jacking points. New ones were fitted in 2017 following an MOT advisory. Interior-wise, again, as original as you’ll find. The carpets are the original and still very serviceable, but are showing their age in one or two places Chromework – again, original, so one or two minor pits and marks but still pretty fine. Mechanically – standard late 3.4 spec. We’re told the engine has never been apart in the last owner’s time, just serviced regularly. As above, it has an odometer reading of 79000 miles in the hand of just 2 owners from new, and comes with history including original green logbook, framed heritage certificate, loads of old MOT’s back to 1974 and 47999 miles, and a decent sheaf of bills from the last owner. I’ve a real soft spot for originality, and this iconic car has that in spades, and is a credit to it’s last Essex owner who’s clearly loved it for over 40 years. When was the last time you saw one with this provenance? It drives just the way you’d expect, with strong performance and an excellent ride, with no suspicious thumps or rattles.
