1963 JAGUAR MK2 3.8 - £69,995
We sold this sensational MK2 Jaguar in 2021 to a client of ours in Henly on Thames and having enjoyed almost 3000 miles of regular UK touring over the past four years, we are delighted to have it back. Prior to first arriving with us in 2021, this upgraded genuine Jaguar MKII 3.8 was subject of a major six-year, nut and bolt rebuild by a Yorkshire based marque specialist. The car was built by the proprietor of the business for his personal collection however a change in retirement plans enabled us to have the opportunity to sell the car. Now the car is back with us in Yorkshire, we are delighted to once again offer the unique opportunity to own this incredibly special car having now covered 3000 miles since completion. The car has been rebuilt with no expense spared, and without doubt would cost more than £100,000 to replicate, even this particular Jaguar restoration expert had to stop counting. The car initially in 2021 arrived with us running in, we carried out some initial checks and road testing and soon summed up this was without doubt the absolute best MKII Jaguar we have had the opportunity to sell. It was then, and is today a unique example with an incredible spec and perfect body colour underside. The restoration process was thorough, first of all, the car was taken back to a bare shell and completely rebuilt with new door skins, custom made rear wings (Coombs style) to negate need for removable spats, louvred bonnet and a top class full re-paint including underside. The 3.8 engine was rebored and rebuilt with new 8:1 ‘County' pistons, re-ground crankshaft, new oil pump, timing chains, balanced crank and rods, lightened flywheel, drilled and strapped core plugs and straight port cylinder head with E-Type cams, all new valves, followers, bearings etc. A six-branch manifold exhaust system was also fitted. A 5 speed Getrag gearbox with mechanical speedo drive was overhauled with new seals and fitted to the car with custom made mountings and propshaft. A fully rebuilt Salisbury Limited Slip Differential with new 3.54 crown wheel and pinion was also fitted. The MKII was completely re-wired with a new wiring loom modified to a 12-gang fuse distribution board system, auxiliary circuits relay controlled, choke and electric fan override switches, hazard flashers, all LED internal and external lighting, H4 Halogen headlamps and 14" electric cooling fan. Speed sensitive power steering was installed retaining the original steering box and geometry and the suspension treated to ‘Ken Jenkins' Coombs design heavy duty front coil springs. The MKII boasts Gaz adjustable shocks front and rear, polybushed front wishbones, anti-roll bar and rear spring pads for improved handling. Soft rubber V mounts and rear spring eye bushes are featured for a smoother ride. A Zues vented front brake conversion was carried out with new vented discs, large 4 pot calipers, Zues rear caliper pods, V12 E-Type brake master cylinder/servo combination to give split circuit tandem hydraulic operating system for safety and stainless-steel braided flexi hoses fitted. The interior features Series III XJ6 seating with electric raise and fall adjustment to the front seats and rear seats have been modified to fit the original mountings. Other features include headrests, inertia reel seat belts, chrome instrument surrounds and auxiliary switches fitted to a custom-made panel. The woodwork has all been re-veneered and polished and looks spectacular. The exterior trim features fully re-chromed bumpers, chrome trims, door top and quarter lights and a laminated windscreen has been fitted. The wheels are wider MWS 6.5" with chrome knock off spinners and 205/70-15 tyres. Having road tested 873 EUT we can once again confirm this is one of the most exciting, exhilarating MKII's we have driven. Its quick, sounds incredible and offers impressive performance. The rebuilt 3.8 engine is now superbly run in, , it's perfectly set up and pulls superbly through the glorious Getrag 5 speed gearbox. Steering is light, ride is comfortable, brakes enhanced and better than when the car was new, it is an absolute gem that will give ultra-confidence for long distance touring and regular use. This is a car that will tempt you to keep using the throttle, its fantastic fun and wants to be driven. With enhanced rebuilt mechanicals, an exceptional bodyshell and underside, comfortable upgraded interior, this is an ultimate spec Jaguar MKII that is unrepeatable in so many ways.
