Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type was nothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercar performance, breathtaking styling and low price tag, the newcomer left rivals reeling and customers clamouring. Early sportscar racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori amongst others helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, the model's combination of all-round independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding and handling capabilities. The Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 was designed to be a more practical version of the legendary E-Type, with a longer wheelbase and additional interior space. It was produced from 1966 to 1967, and it featured a 4.2 litre inline-six engine that produced 265bhp. One of the most notable features of the Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 is its sleek and timeless design. The car has a long, flowing hood and a low-slung profile that gives it a sense of speed and power.

This stunning example was first registered on 5th September 1969 and presents in a powder blue coachwork over an original dark blue leather interior, sitting on original crown hub capped wheels. This manual example of the 2+2 is the ultimate in looks and E-Type practicality, with only 56,600 miles on the odometer, which is believed to be correct, and with low documented keepers and an interior that shows a wonderful patina. Our vendor had the car inspected by an independent mechanic in January 2025, he did not identify any major requirements for maintenance to the bodywork as a whole, including the underside.

Our vendor states the engine always fires up and idles very well when warmed up, the car drives very well and is great fun as to be expected from the 4.2 litre straight six engine, 'I can leave the car for months and start it with full choke and several turns of the engine from cold without issue'. A very solid car that has had cosmetic restoration work in the past, we think circa 9-10 years ago but remains largely original, we have added photos of the underside to demonstrate the excellent condition of the chassis and sub frame. Offered with the original handbook pack and a printed MoT check back to 1977 to give great confidence in that odometer reading coupled with further various invoices and history for the car. Good honest E-Types are still one of classic motoring's great pleasures and this rare manual 2+2 can transport you, your spouse, children and luggage to any classic event this summer.
