1992 HONDA VFR VFR400 R3-M - £17,995
FOR SALE A genuine UK Honda VFR400R NC30 with only 3,946 miles from new. MODEL HISTORY A scaled down version of the larger VFR race models, the UK VFR400R NC30 was horrendously expensive and was similarly priced to 1000cc bikes of the time! Sharing many desirable features of the legendary RC30 homologation model created for World Superbike Championship such as Pro-Arm rear end, endurance style clocks, gear-driven camshafts, close-ratio style gearbox, and 360° firing order (and therefore exhaust note) as its 750cc inspiration. Rare UK bikes differ from their Japanese domestic market examples and are unrestricted with an oil cooler, larger hinged mirrors, separate numberplate lamp and different carbs amongst many more features. With the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) build quality and rarity, it is no wonder these exotic miniatures are so collectable. EQUIPMENT High-rigidity aluminium frame, aerodynamic faring, twin-headlights, Pro Arm advanced suspension system, centrally fixed wheels, steering lock, lockable seat compartment, helmet holder, side stand down, electric start, mph speedo, coolant temperature gauge, headlight and dimmer switch, passing switch, horn button, oil, neutral, high beam and turn signal lamps, manual choke, tool kit. EXTERIOR To see a pristine and original UK supplied NC30 in the iconic Ross White, Fighting Red, Dakar Blue colour scheme, (Code NH196H), is a wonderful sight. Quality components and exemplary build quality are clearly apparent and more so in this beautifully preserved low mileage example. Factory standard aerodynamic faring remains untouched with original paint and decals, glossy bright and vibrant. The correct olive-green drab plating to components and delicate warning stickers remain attached, even to the chain guard and clear Perspex front screen. The mesh grille behind the front wheel has been dipped and zinc plated to factory specification and the original rear shock has the addition of a small Schrader valve to allow it to be re-gassed. The standard factory supplied Honda HM MR8 exhaust system remains fitted with no marks or dings and the supplying Motorcycle City number plates and front mudguard sticker are still attached. This UK bike is difficult to fault and must be one of the best available. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The VFR400R’s compact liquid cooled V4 engine has smooth power with full torque to produce exhilarating performance. Being a matching numbers UK example, it is a full power unrestricted model with 63bhp and standard in all respects. Recent and expensive works by renown NC30 specialists, JTR Technica Ltd confirm UK standard E3FA carburettor, needles and jets and optimal running. Advanced features such as two-part radiator to assist cooling, oil cooler and 360° firing order producing a wonderful exhaust note, all add to the thrill on a bike only weighing 176kg. The Race-inspired close-ratio six-speed gearbox utilises every ounce of power. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Pure white cast aluminium wheels are unmarked and are fitted with new, difficult to source and correctly sized, 120/60 R17 front and 150/60 R18 rear tyres to ensure the perfect ride as Honda intended. Powerful hydraulic twin-floating 296mm front discs with 4-pot callipers up front and a single disc to the rear provide controllable braking. HISTORY FILE This rare UK supplied matching numbers VFR400R NC30 was supplied by Motorcycle City (Sales) Ltd in Farnborough on the 11th September 1992 to a Mr Cooper. The New Bike invoice reveals the large sum paid for this model when new along with all other purchase documentation at handover. Mr Cooper enjoyed the bike for a few years before placing it in storage where it remained until he gifted it to his son in April 2019. Father and son lived at the same address as evidenced by issued registration documents. At this point the bike had covered just 3,876 miles and having briefly been put back on the road it was placed back into storage until the third and final keeper purchased it in May 2025. A passionate motorcycle collector, the bike went to NC30 specialists to be fully recommissioned and made roadworthy to enjoy once more. Only made available along with other bikes, cars and a Sinclair C5 that KGF Classic Cars also purchased due to a property investment opportunity. Supplied with all UK handbooks, service book, A4 history file and two sets of keys, (one unused and still its plastic sheaf), this rare and iconic superbike will satisfy the most demanding of connoisseurs and fanatical bike collectors.
