The original interior was subject to an extensive re-trim by Classic Motor Cars, Bridgenorth to standard specification with subtle extras including air conditioning and period radio with Bluetooth and 4 speakers. Works included a complete and extensive re-trim all in claret hide, original reclinable split-bench front seats retrimmed, matching door cards, new deep pile red heritage carpets throughout with contrasting red over mats, new sound deadening layer, flawless chrome trim, leather centre armrests, new grey woolcloth headling, red custom inertia reel seat belts, heated rear screen, all outstanding and unmarked. The driver's seat has been adapted to accommodate taller drivers over 6ft which historically has been a gripe with these cars. Fully restored polished woodwork and dashboard, all interior lighting, switches, analogue clock and electrics work as they should. All Smiths gauges refurbished and speedometer recalibrated. A wood rim 15 inch Mota-Lita steering wheel completes this stunning luxurious interior. The stripped body was prepared and painted by Classic Motor Cars, Bridgenorth. A full photographic restoration consisting of circa 250 images of the car before, during, and after restoration was carried out over a two-year period and completed in the spring of 2018. Painted in the original Daimler colour Opalescent Grey. The paint finish and bodywork are outstanding, with factory panel fit, shut lines, and gaps. The underside is completely painted to factory specification, fully detailed and flawless as you can see from the images. All bright work either replated or replaced using quality items throughout, original Lucas lighting all around with the exception of better performing new H4 headlights. Triplex front screen and crystal clear glass all around... Simply outstanding. The original pressed steel bolt-on wheels are finished in matching Opalescent Grey with unmarked chrome wheel rim finishers and refurbished Daimler chrome hub caps all in perfect order. Fitted with all matching excellent Vredestein Classic Radial 185 HR 15 Tyres. The fully overhauled brake system is excellent, she pulls up with ease and perfectly straight. On the road, she handles beautifully benefitting from Koni shock absorbers all round.The fully detailed engine and engine bay houses the incredible 2.5 90 Deg. V8. Overhead valves, hemispherical head, 2548cc, twin SU HD6 carburettors, 140bhp at 5,800rpm, maximum torque 155 lb.ft. at 3,600rpm combined with a brand new ZF 4 Speed automatic gearbox. The engine was overhauled by Classic Motor Cars, Bridgenorth along with rebuilt axle, differential and propshaft etc. The history file documents in detail the extensive work carried out. On the road, she's outstanding with a turbine-like smoothness and unique sound. Acceleration is extremely impressive and effortless, available from a crawl or from a high cruising speed with ease. Smooth automatic gear selection and slick gear change. Starts on the button instantly hot or cold and idles perfectly. The sound is tremendous through the full stainless steel exhaust system. Here we have a rather special UK home market Daimler 2.5 V8. Registered new on 20th November 1964. The extensive bare metal 2-year restoration was entrusted to Classic Motor Cars Limited, Bridgenorth, and completed in Spring 2018. The restoration has been fully documented with a full photographic record of circa 250 images of the car before, during and after restoration. Works include a full body and chassis restoration, completely restored original interior, full engine, axle and differential rebuild, brand new ZF 4 speed gearbox, new wiring loom, power steering, disc brake system, air conditioning, etc. totaling a staggering £166,337, a truly outstanding concours example. The history file documents 39 fully detailed restoration stage payments to Classic Motor Cars, a USB containing 250+ images of the comprehensive restoration progress over the two years, and 2 sets of keys one original key that fits all exterior locks and ignition, all presented in a luxury box file.
