Interesting history that has enabled it to last over 40 years in remarkable condition. Purchased new in Belgium in 1982, the car was originally driven on Belgium number plates, so was first registered in UK in 1984. The original owner was living in the USA and moved to San Francisco, working as a sea pilot in the Bay area before moving to Alaska piloting in the Alaskan waters. During this period the car was safely tucked away in his garage on the Isle of Wight. Driven occasionally and MoT'd regularly the Fuego always returned to the warm garage, living under a dust cover. Eventually the owner retired to Arizona, where he now resides. On a phone call during lockdown, the subject of the Fuego cropped up and he pointed out he was unlikely ever to return for the car. So in May 2021 the car was offered for sale by auction with only one owner, 30,000 miles, unmolested and amazingly original. Accompanying the Fuego are the original owners manual and service and there are also several old MoT's documenting the slowly increasing mileage, currently 30k. For a 40 year old car the exterior is in exceptional rust free condition with numerous accessory options from new including electric fabric sunroof, fog lamps, body stripes, side protection mouldings and also the correct Renault alloy wheels which I added. The interior is in excellent condition. The carpets have been protected by a set of Renault rubber mats, so are like new. The interior plastic is all unwarped, uncracked and clean. Under the bonnet there is Renault’s 1647cc engine runs like a dream and sounds smooth with no rattles or squeaks, it is exactly how a “just run in nicely” 30,000 mile engine should be. I am the second owner and it is registered Historic Vehicle so free tax and MoT exempt.
