Morris Minor saloon car first registered in November 1963 as the Deluxe model having the luxury of duo two tone seating, Banjo steering wheel and the larger 1098cc engine. The car was first registered to it's first owner, Mrs E Wood in the Hertfordshire area, the car was later transferred to her daughter (date not known). After spending 30 years in the Wood family the car was sold on to Mr Callaby in February 1993 from Middlesbrough with a mileage reading of 49,855. The car was then subjected to a full restoration which was photographed and documented in detail, the full record comes with the car comprising two ring binder files which also contain MoT records, invoices, receipts and letters appertaining to the history of the car going back to the mid 1990’s. Subsequently the car was put it up for sale through D T Matthewson an historic car dealer. While awaiting a sale they loaned the car to a film company which led to the car appearing in an episode of “Heartbeat”. The Morris was later sold to Mr Carlton Ventress on the 20th June 1998 with 51,772 miles recorded. He gave her the name “Gladys”. Mr Fraser bought it on 12th October 2018, with 64,891 miles on the clock, he further refined the car with many new parts in the engine and the interior, all of which were documented. Mr Fraser sold the Morris to me on the 14th March 2019, the odometer displayed 65,530. Later that year the speedometer cable broke so about 15 miles needs to be added to the current reading. I also replaced the front drum brakes with servo assisted disc brakes with a new master cylinder to suit. Also replaced wheel bearings and oil seals. The car didn’t come out the garage very often during the pandemic and then only local trips on dry days. Use was further restricted by my own worsening health, The current odometer reading is 66,471 miles.
