The XK150 first appeared in May 1957 and continued in production until the replacement E-Type was announced in the middle of March 1961. The XK150 was similar in appearance to the earlier XK120 and XK140 models – and available in the same 3 body types, open two-seater; drophead coupe and fixed head coupe - but both exterior and interior styling were modified. The car gained a single piece, wrap-around windscreen, replacing the earlier split screen and changes were made to the wing lines and widened bonnet. Internally the car benefited from revised seating and a new dashboard layout, now trimmed in leather. Mechanically, suspension and chassis were similar to the XK140, with rack and pinion steering and the car was powered by the now familiar 3.4 litre DOHC straight-6 engine, producing – in twin carburettor format - a claimed 190 bhp at 5,500 rpm. An enlarged 3.8 litre engine was available in 1960, and when production ended in October 1960, a total of 9,382 of all body types had been manufactured. This original left-hand drive, fixed head coupe was built in March 1958 and delivered to its first owner in Bahrain as a personal export. Initially finished in Pearl Grey with a red interior, the car subsequently found its way to the USA (California) before being purchased by a new Jersey-based owner in 1998. The new owners had the Jaguar fully rebuilt and refurbished in the UK and it is now finished in a maroon colour with ivory leather interior. The car has been carefully maintained whilst in the island and received some useful upgrades, including a 5-speed gearbox and an alternator/negative earth conversion. The 3.4 litre Jaguar engine is in excellent order, mated to a 5-speed gearbox, supplied by Guy Broad Parts and fitted by ourselves in Jersey. The exhaust is part stainless steel. The running gear benefits from uprated telescopic shocks front and rear; disc brakes all round and 15-inch wire wheels, fitted with wider 205/70 profile radial tyres. As might be anticipated, the car runs and drives very well. This is a very smart XK150, with the exterior of the car in first rate condition. The maroon paintwork is in very good fettle; all brightwork is present, correct and in good shape, as are the painted wire wheels. The underside of the car is in a good solid condition, with only some light surface corrosion to be found. The interior has been fully refinished in Magnolia leather and high-quality maroon carpeting. It is immaculate throughout. An aftermarket Moto Lita steering wheel and modern radio/CD player have been fitted. This is a particularly tidy, well cared for Jaguar XK150. It is mechanically sound with some useful modern upgrades making use in today’s traffic an easier task. The interior and exterior are in excellent condition – the classically-trimmed cabin in particular, being a very pleasant place to be. The car is currently Jersey registered and we can assist with shipping and importing processes if required, but any import duties and transport costs would be additional to the price listed. £ POA.
