This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Supercar Fest Sale of Iconic and Classic Cars 2024 on Saturday the 18th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. In 1999, Ferrari knew that it was time to replace their much loved 355 and consequently the 360 was introduced to critical acclaim and immediately set a new benchmark for affordable 'supercar' styling and performance. The 360 Modena design was revolutionary, making extensive use of lightweight materials in its construction, resulting in a much lighter car along with substantially increased rigidity. Ferrari also paid particular attention to improving the under-body aerodynamics using knowledge gained from their Formula 1 programme and the 360 boasts a completely flat bottom with two prominent rear diffusers. The new model was always intended to have a convertible counterpart and in 2001, the Spider was unveiled, utilising the same 400bhp 3.6-litre V8 engine displayed underneath a glass panel. The complex mechanical operation of the retracting roof necessitated significant engineering changes for the Spider including enlarging the side air intakes and moving the inlet manifolds towards the centre of the engine. The Ferrari 360 Modena, particularly the Spider, is one of those Ferrari models whose lines are enhanced by darker colours, illustrated clearly by the striking Nero Daytona Spider F1 on offer here. Supplied through Maranello Sales in March 2003, the specification included a Rosso interior with 'Daytona' seats, Scuderia Shields, Rosso roll-hoops, Rosso brake calipers, black carpets and a Nero hood. It comes with a well documented service history with 11 Ferrari dealer stamps all the way through to July 2019, when a service and cam belts were carried out by Rardley Motors at 35,293 miles (the current indicated mileage is 37,387 at time of cataloguing). The history file contains multiple invoices covering servicing, maintenance and cambelts. Within the last 2,000 miles, work has included new Pirelli P Zero tyres, alloy wheel refurbishment, new micro switches for the hood and a fresh MOT through to February 2025. It's supplied with its toolkit, two keys, three fobs and the owners leather wallet. The Ferrari was purchased in 2015 by our vendor, Colin Earl, who was a founding member and pianist for the band Mungo Jerry, most famously associated with the number one hit In the Summertime, the debut single that punctuated the summer of 1970 for a great many and is still played nearly everyday somewhere in the UK. This stunning Ferrari, in what we believe to be a seriously cool colour combination, is ready to be enjoyed for collector or enthusiast alike.
