Some History of the Triumph Dolomite
The Dolomite came standard with many high level features, such as luxury seats and carpeting, clock, heated rear window, cigarette lighter, twin headlights, and much more. Production was between 1972-1980, with a little over 79,000 produced in total.
In 1976 the Dolomite 1300 and 1500 were introduced, in a way to freshen up the range, with the 1300 sporting a longer body to achieve a larger boot. The 1300 stayed with the simple features, with no option for two door, unlike there had been with the Toledo.
The 1500 was the next step up, with the same specifications as the 1300, but fitted with a 1493 cc engine and twin carburettors. The car was renowned for its rear wheel drive, which was a unique feature as many small cars manufactures which had been focusing purely on front wheel drive.
