Known officially as the Volkswagen Type 2 and depending on body type, either as a Transporter, Kombi or Microbus, this Volkswagen was also known informally as the Bus in the US and Camper in the UK. Introduced in 1950 as Volkswagen's second car model, it was derived from their first, the Beetle, which was designated the Type 1. The second-generation Type 2 lost its distinctive split front windscreen and was slightly larger and considerably heavier than its predecessor. Its common nickname is 'Bay-window' or Bay for short. The new model also did away with the swing axle rear suspension and transfer boxes previously used to raise ride height. Instead, half-shafts were fitted with constant velocity joints. Brazil contained the last factory in the world that produced the T2. Production in Brazil ceased on 31st December 2013 due to the introduction of more stringent safety regulations, thus marking the end of an era with the rear-engine Volkswagens which first originated in 1935.

This classic 1978 manufactured Volkswagen T2 Camper Van is finished in Peppermint Green with a contrasting ivory roof and is fitted with 15" Fuchs style Porsche alloy wheels on lowered suspension, it comes with a large, as new, framed tent extension for extra sleeping arrangements and covered entertainment area (would easily accommodate 4/6 people). It has had only two owners since 2009, both Volkswagen enthusiasts, the first of whom set about a complete restoration after purchasing the car, which had been stolen and recovered and consequently was registered as a Cat D total loss, which is purely considered not to be economically viable to repair even though there was no damage! During the rebuild, the 2.0 litre engine was overhauled along with many other modification and upgrades in order to make the Camper more up to date for today's roads along with a bare metal body refurbishment in its Volkswagen classic colour scheme. It is fitted with black leather front seats, a new rock and roll bed, removeable table and a quirky vespa seat in which the stereo and sub- woofer is fitted, wooden sports steering wheel, curtains all round, side chrome sill bars and front cage roof rack to house your luggage, spare wheel and fitted tent etc. This vehicle features on the front cover of the February 2015 VW Vibe magazine with a four page write up. There has been too much work carried out on the vehicle to list here and would have cost far more than the asking price to achieve such a great Camper van as this. It is registered as a historic vehicle, so no road tax or MoT needed and it is ULEZ compliant. This surely is one of the most reasonably priced classic Camper Vans available and in lovely condition.
