This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2025 - Competition Cars on Friday the 22nd of August, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN. In 1965, the third generation of TVR's competent little Grantura became available as the Mk III 1800S with a cut off, 'Manx tail' and the distinctive round rear light clusters from the Ford Cortina. The 1,798cc B-series engine remained but the top chassis rails were redesigned to offer more space in the engine bay, not a concern with the MG B engine, however TVR's dastardly 'Plan B' was revealed with the arrival of the legendary V8-engined Griffith. On offer here is a competitive and well built, right-hand drive Grantura that’s been campaigned successfully in the Equipe GTS Series in recent years. Built as a race car around ten years ago, for the last six seasons it has been run and maintained by renowned race team, TTP Performance, with much success in the ever-popular Equipe series. The specification is impressive and includes a race-prepared 1,840cc MG B inline-four with twin Weber Carburettors, steel crankshaft and upgraded conrods and pistons, as well as a 7-port, crossflow cylinder head. This is mated to a 4-speed, racing-specification gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Further features include a roll cage, interior and exterior battery master switches, a Cobra bucket seat with a Schroth Racing harness, Smiths dials, an MSD Digital 6AL ignition control box, and a fire extinguisher. The car sits on a set of 15" Minilite-style alloy wheels, with Dunlop Racing tyres. As with any competition car it is essential to confirm the currency and suitability of any safety-related equipment. The engine was refreshed early in 2025 by TTP and reportedly has around 60 minutes of run time under its belt since. The seller tells us that the car is always prepared and maintained by TTP before and after each race meeting. The Grantura is accompanied by a folder of invoices, results and expenditure as well as its UK V5C offering the versatility of using the car on the road if required. This is a very competitive example that’s been well maintained and is offered at a fraction of the cost of what it would take to replicate. Offering superb value for money, this good looking little TVR offers access to variety of high quality motorsport and is a rare and interesting car to add to any Collection.
