1953 TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD 6T SPRUNG - £9,795
The Triumph Thunderbird 6T was Triumph's great effort to appeal to the American market for faster and more powerful motorcycles. The 6T was developed by Triumph Chief Designer Edward Turner, and here we have a brilliant example of the 100mph machine. It has been fitted with Avon Tyres and presents beautiful in its Polychromatic Blue with only 81 miles on the clock following its rebuild. The bike comes with an original instruction manual beholding a Complements Slip from Triumph Engineering Co LTD of Meriden Works, Coventry, and a Haynes manual. The 649cc, 2-cylinder engine pushed out 34bhp at 6,400rpm and would have set back the enthused buyer £195 when the model was first produced. This example features Edward Turners Sprung Hub which was a suspension component that provided around 2 inches of vertical travel on the rear end and was inspired by the landing gear of a Gloster Gladiator fighter aircraft. For the gear selection, the 6T is equipped with a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox with a right foot selector arrangement. With a terrific exterior, this classic motorbike presents remarkably well and as a bike that has been very well looked after throughout its life. What better way to enjoy summer weekends than to ride out on a classic British motorcycle?
