SUBARU IMPREZA 1ST GEN - £30,000
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction - 28th August on Thursday the 28th of August. BackgroundConceived from pure rallying pedigree and engineered exclusively for the UK-market, the Subaru Impreza P1 (Prodrive One) stands as one of the most coveted limited edition performance cars of its era. Launched in 2000 and developed in partnership with motorsport legends Prodrive, the P1 took the ferocious DNA of the Japanese-market WRX STi and honed it into a more precise, more focused and more rewarding driver’s machine. Producing 276bhp from its turbocharged flat-four, with bespoke suspension tuning and a lightweight two-door shell, the P1 delivered searing performance and exceptional handling balance. Limited in production and instantly acclaimed, it is now firmly established as a modern classic and a cornerstone of any serious Subaru or performance car Collection. The CarFirst registered in 2001, this example was initially retained for only a few months before passing to its second custodian, who would own it for an exceptional 17 years. Under his stewardship, the car received a full engine and gearbox rebuild, supported by substantial documented maintenance including timing belts, regular servicing and replacement shock absorbers – all attesting to a commitment to mechanical excellence. Presented in the model’s signature Sonic Blue, the cabin features black cloth upholstery complemented by grey synthetic suede and blue cloth inserts, Prodrive sport seats and a black leather-trimmed gear stick, steering wheel and handbrake lever with red contrast stitching – all hallmarks of the P1’s distinctive specification. Based on the WRX STi Type R, the P1 gained enhanced chassis dynamics courtesy of firmer springs, revised anti-roll bars, redesigned shock absorbers, OZ Racing alloy wheels and its unmistakable high-level rear wing. Accompanying the car are the original book pack, stamped service history, Subaru Assistance guide, and the P1 supplement – a complete and highly desirable set for collectors. In excellent condition throughout, the car’s bodywork and interior show minimal wear, with all four wheels free of kerb damage or lacquer degradation, save for the omission of a single O.Z. centre cap. A detailed inspection can be found in the accompanying gallery.
