When was the last time you saw one of these? Guaranteed to attract attention wherever you go. Considered one of only two 110LS models on UK roads, this vehicle underwent a thorough restoration between 2013 and 2014. Manufactured in the former Czechoslovakia, Skoda's 110 saloon cars aimed to compete with models such as the Ford Cortina and Hillman Minx. The Skoda offered significantly more standard features and showcased a distinct character. It employed a monocoque design, independent suspension all around, and a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration, utilising the high-compression engine from the 110R coupe. This 110 LS, having had a single owner in Czechoslovakia, was brought to the UK in 2013, where it has remained with the same owner since. Upon its arrival, the current owner initiated a comprehensive ‘nut and bolt’ restoration. The Škoda was discovered to be remarkably solid, requiring only localised welding in specific areas like the sills, subframe mounts, and jacking points. To complete the restoration, three new doors and new front and rear wings were sourced, all genuine new old stock Škoda parts. The vehicle was then given a complete repaint in its stunning original color, Turquoise (5187), as verified by the Skoda museum in Mlada Boleslav. This original color was identified in the panel gaps beneath the poorly applied blue paint that covered the shell before it was stripped down to bare metal. The engine underwent a comprehensive overhaul, which included a new head and refreshed twin-pot calipers, while the gearbox was entirely reconditioned. The suspension, front brake discs, rear brakes, and steering system were all replaced. The original interior, which was well-restored, was reinstalled, and several new old stock trim parts were sourced for the exterior finishing touches. The restoration was finalised in November 2014, coinciding with the Škoda receiving its first MOT that same month. Since then, the 110 LS has been utilised for shows and events, accumulating approximately 3,800 miles since the restoration was completed. It was also featured in Classics magazine shortly after the restoration was finished. The sale comes with an extensive collection of reading materials, including some that are original to the vehicle and others gathered by the current owner to enhance this remarkable example. It includes the original Czechoslovakian logbook along with the current V5, numerous copies of English brochures, service vouchers, owner’s manuals, servicing guides, a paint chart, restoration photos, a copy of Classics magazine featuring a photo shoot, MOT certificates, and invoices. This truly represents a comprehensive package that will undoubtedly make a statement in the Classic Car community. Sold with a full MOT, this Skoda is destined for its next adventure.
