1959 SIMCA ARONDE DELUXE SIX - £2,095

1959 Simca Aronde Deluxe Six. Rare car, sold for the domestic market only, alongside the new P60 Aronde in 1959/60 as a base model, using the 1090cc engine from the Simca 8 and 90a Aronde body. A lower level of trim and a smaller engine meant that the car sold at a lower end of the market, and fell into a lower taxation class, than the P60 Aronde, competing with slightly smaller cars, such as the Renault Dauphine. The car is basically solid/running, but needs quite a bit of recommissioning/restoration. The engine runs, but needs fettling. The car also needs a complete new exhaust and the handbrake cable is absent. The paint is mainly original and wearing very thin in places, so would benefit from a respray, and the interior needs re-trimming, and perferably, the horrible Audi seats replacing with an original bench. Exterior trim is mostly present, but the vast majority would need repainting/re-chroming. This is probably the only example of this actual model in the U.K. It has an interesting history, including appearing as a background vehicle in the Stanley Kubrick film, Full Metal Jacket and a spell as part of the Yorkshire Car Collection. It's a much-loved car, that I have actually owned twice, over the past thirty years or so. I'm only selling as I have too many projects. The car can be viewed in North Walsham, North Norfolk.
