The manufacturing firm that became Vauxhall as we know it today started in 1857 as a pump and engine manufacturer. The first Vauxhall car appeared in 1903, and until just after the Second World War the marque was mainly concerned with luxury cars. Its mass-market move meant that Vauxhall cars have helped generations become mobile, from Vivas, Victors, Chevettes and Chevettes, to more recent times with Tigras, Calibras, Carltons, Astras and Novas.
