Current owner for the last 23 years. The car has been off the road for 18 months. Please read carefully and check the photos to fully appreciate the condition. Please note that the car drives but will need to be collected on a trailer. This should be an easy Restoration project for someone who is a competent welder. Some welding has been completed but has since been abandoned due to the ULEZ decision which I and many others have found very upsetting. I had just spent quite a bit of money on the mechanical aspects. The Good bits. Brand new genuine clutch kit, brand new flywheel ring gear and rear crankshaft seal. New water pump, new n/s drive shaft (that’s the one with the big rubber bellows on the G/box) new pads and discs were fitted the previous year with rear wheel cylinders (not sure about the shoes) Brand new steering lock/ignition switch, exhaust downpipe and new radiator a couple of years before that. The not so good bits. The driver’s door was damaged years ago when it was parked. Never caught the culprit, but the door actually shuts better than the passenger side at the moment! I do have an excellent replacement door (in Red) off a very late campus if needed. The front seats are threadbare but a complete set of later seats with head-rests are included in the sale. The cracked Windscreen obviously needs to be replaced when the screen surround is welded but most of the welding will be in the sill areas. I have owned and driven many 5’s in my time and can honestly say I have never found one that drives as well as this. The 1108cc engine revs so sweetly and the car handles like a Go-Kart. The 1964 R8 Gordini engine was based on the 1108cc and that would rev to 8000rpm quite happily! It is so much fun to drive but 4 more years before it qualifies as a classic. If I didn’t live in London, I wouldn’t be writing this advert.
