The 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2004. On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for refinement and a high-performance, four-valve per cylinder engine made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a redesigned interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. The 996 was another step forward for Porsche, making cars that not only excited their fan base but appealed to those who wanted a comfortable and practical everyday sportscar that could sprint to 60mph in a shade over five seconds.

This example has been in the care of our vendor for the past six years, covering around 5,000 miles in that time. It was purchased with an already impressive maintenance record, with the total number of stamps in the book now at 18, plus our vendor has replaced many parts during his ownership to ensure the car drives superbly. Possibly the most important invoice in the file comes from 2017, when the IMS bearing and RMS seal were replaced, with only 10,000 miles having been covered since. A new clutch was fitted at the same time, along with many other miscellaneous parts. Over the past few years, our vendor has replaced the front control arms, front brake discs and pads, fitted two new outer front driveshaft gaiters, polished the headlamp lenses, fitted stainless steel exhaust silencers and most recently changed the engine oil and filter in July 2025. This example represents an excellent way into the world of Porsche 911 ownership and is supplied to auction with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until September 2026 and various spare parts.
