1952 MORGAN PLUS 4 DROP HEAD COUPE---OFFERS - £26,850
This rare classic Morgan is now being sold complete with a history file containing invoices and photos of the restoration. It is one of the last flathead radiator DHC models of which only 117 were produced. It is essentially original including the luxurious interior and has only minor upgrades for modern drivability. It runs well and has good mechanics all round. The original Plus 4 model was introduced at the 1950 Earls Court Motor Show. It was based on a widened, strengthened and longer wheelbase version of the 4/4 chassis and powered by the proven 2088cc straight-four engine of the Standard Vanguard and was the first of the marque to feature hydraulic brakes. The Plus 4 could be ordered in no less than four guises but only 556 were the luxuriously crafted Drophead Coupes and only 117 had the flat nose radiator. The car was treated to a major rebuild in 2022, as well as various updates intended to make it more amenable to modern driving conditions. The powerplant was refurbished and converted for unleaded fuel. A replacement clutch was installed and the Moss gearbox rebuilt by specialist Alan Voigts of Liverpool. The radiator was re-cored and the cooling system upgraded to operate as a sealed unit, complete with electric water pump and thermostatically-controlled fan. Other upgrades include a dual circuit braking system, high torque starter motor, alternator, electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust and a new set of radial tyres. Finished in red over black and trimmed in red leather, the car still features its original pneumatic seats. Data: Reg.WXS 511. Engine Standard 2088cc, 3 owners, Full documentation.
