. Fast Road Engine. . Extensive history file. Launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1962, the MGB is a two-seater sports car manufactured and marketed by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), later British Leyland. The MGB brought MG’s sports cars into the modern day, with its attractive slab-sided roadster body. Remaining in production until 1980 the MGB was Britain’s most successful sports car. The B utilised a monocoque chassis instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on both the MGA, MG T-Types and the MGB’s rival, the Triumph TR series. Powered by British Leyland’s 95bhp B-Series engine the MGB offered spritely performance with a top speed of just over 100mph. The MGB Roadster offered here at Autostorico is a March 1967 registered example finished in Signal Red with Black interior trim and has covered an indicated 68.915 miles. Purchased in 1991 by an MG enthusiast the car underwent a full no expense sparred restoration which included removing the engine and gearbox and stripping the body for a full bare metal respray. The car was also subject to a full mechanical overhaul including engine rebuild to fast road specification, gearbox, and suspension rebuild. Other notable works included overhauling the braking system, re-wire, and interior re-trim. This lovely example has led a pampered life and has been exceptionally well maintained regardless of cost and has been in regular use.
