MGA MK. II FIXED HEAD COUPÉ - £Auction
This very rare 1961 MGA Mk. II (1622cc) Fixed Head Coupe, is one of only 219 vehicles ever manufactured before production ceased in 1962 (so only manufactured for two years) being finished in bright red with red/black leather trim and chrome wire wheels. The car has undergone a total nut and bolt rebuild, including new leather trim and was just finished in 2025. The chassis has been waxoiled during the restoration along with all new chromework, glass and rubber, new rack and pinion steering, new shock absorbers, new crown wheel and pinion, new disc brakes, wheel bearings and the list goes on. The paperwork shows that in 2015 the engine was rebuilt (approximately 3,000 miles ago from MoT history) including light alloy Hrg crossflow head (now lead free fuel) supplied by brown and gammons and a new gear box supplied by Peter Wood of Twyford, Bucks, along with the new clutch etc. The car comes with old MoTs dating back from 1979 showing a mileage of 60,376 at that time, so in the last 46 years this lovely MGA has only done 8,000 miles. Having only six previous owners from new, along with bills incurred during the restoration, it presents as a great investment and particularly fun to drive what is a rare example of this popular British marque. Consigned by James Good.
