The MGB needs no introduction as possibly the world’s favourite classic car. Thousands are still being used regularly the world over and the spares availability is second to none. This example is a late first series GT with the Pininfarina designed hardtop. As such, it has had chrome bumpers from the outset. It has a manual gearbox with overdrive and the original version of the dash. We have just had it completely repainted in blue to sort various minor paintwork blemishes, with excellent black leather piped pale blue, a lightweight bonnet, painted wire wheels and decent chrome. The colour is a very slight change from the one on the car when it arrived but previous paint was hard to match consistently and it is still blue per the V5. The fresh paint has smartened the car immensely. It drives nicely and is relatively unspoiled with the classic features it enjoyed when new. There are some very minor flaws – small scratches to the rear glass for example – but nothing which would prevent a new owner enjoying the car. There are front and rear seatbelts fitted which enhance usability. The car was part of Martin Howey’s (Yorkshire dealer) ex-stock last year, becoming available on his retirement. Otherwise, it comes with little history but it appears to have been in use up until the mid-2000s per the MoT record. There is evidence of attention to bodywork and it is very sound underneath, so the recorded mileage of 74k seems plausible. A nice, original chrome bumper rather than a conversion. Use and improve or just use once the milder weather arrives! Details: first registered July 1968; chassis no. GHD4/149363G; engine no. 18GD.RWE.H314S; 7 previous owners (excluding Martin Howey whose name is on the last V5)
