Utilizing a Getrag double-clutch, seven-speed paddle-shifted transmission, the car is able to shift gears in less than 100 milliseconds. A speed-activated airbrake deploys from the rear hatch to greatly increase downforce, thereby aiding cornering and deacceleration. Rather naturally, all the SLS AMG’s innovative technologies were perfected to their final production configurations after many thousands of miles testing at the Nürburgring Nordschliefe and Imola GP circuits.
