The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL-Class model names. The R129 was based on the shortened floor pan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details seen for the time. For example, electronically controlled shock absorbers (optional) and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. The level of standard equipment was high, with electrically operated windows, mirrors, seats and convertible hood.

Built to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Stirling Moss's win in the 1955 Mille Miglia road race, the R129 Mille Miglia was available as either a 320 SL or 500 SL. It could only be ordered in Brilliant Silver Metallic, equipped with Evo II six-spoke polished alloys and a red and black leather interior, complemented by carbon-fibre trim. The lower wing grilles were also given a unique 'chequered flag' treatment that, upon close inspection, is a clever collection of chrome squares.

A rare one of 40 limited edition cars, this example scored an impressive 90 out of 100 in an assured inspection by the SL shop in February 2024. First registered on 22nd August 1995 by Mr. Burgin, who according to the supplied original purchase receipt paid £64,850 for the car. Boasting an impressive service history file, the service book shows 12 stamps at time of writing, the first seven of which were by Mercedes-Benz Coverdale. Supplied with a V5C registration document, previous MoT test certificates, original books in their original wallet, invoices, purchase receipt and factory hardtop.
