Mercedes Benz 300 SL ‘R107’ Roadster Auto 1987 RHD / FSH / 4 Owners / Rear Seats / Concours Repaint By Specialist / Major Service Completed ‘Desirable Example In Best Colour’ £23,495 This stunning & desirable 300SL was first registered on 1st January 1987 by Bradshaw & Webb (Chelsea) Ltd to its first wealthy local owner, making it one of the early galvanised R107 series cars. It has only had 4 keepers to date, the current for 18 years & it’s the most desirable 3.0 litre variant producing 187bhp. Warranted 146,300 miles, but looks like a 50,000 mile example with MB & specialist service history in original stamped service book, with the all-important data card still attached to the back page (Approx. 30 stamps showing diligent maintenance – copious are MB main agents). It’s a desirable specification finished in Signal Red with black sports check interior (Actually better than leather in my opinion, as you can actually sit on it on a hot summers day!) with factory fitted rear seats, with a brand new black soft top made by our associated trimmer & immaculate matching signal red hard top – Surely the best colour combination! The vehicle has been well maintained by local specialists for the last 18 years, which is the current elderly owner’s tenureship. Indeed he purchased this stunning example on 31st March 2004 from Chelsea Cars – London & has garaged it ever since. At 82 years old, he felt it was time to let it go & we were happy to purchase for our stock. Since being in our possession we have been meticulous in our further preparation, prior to offering this splendid example to the market, spending over £7,350 at trade cost. We have treated this vehicle to a major deep recommissioning service, due to the limited mileage the elderly owner had covered over the last 5 years. We have also conducted a full external repaint to show standard, including the all-important hard top. The paintwork had picked up several little marks & dinks whilst in the current owners tenureship which had been touched up & we felt this fantastic example deserved a full coat of paint to our usual high standards. We have also refinished the boot compartment, in the correct MB paint code & can confirm the spare wheel recess is without rust. We also had our artisan trimmer manufacture & fit a new black quality soft top. We have replaced the 3 piece rear lower valance set with quality steel panels form the SL shop & naturally painted them the body colour. We replaced some of the black rubber bumper sections, repolished the chrome external trim items, fitted the factory decal set, new window switches & window motor, new sun visors imported from Germany. Replaced the cracked sections of the wood interior veneer (Burl Walnut) , cut a spare set of keys, fitted a new Bosch battery, fitted Bosch silver wiper blades, fitted a new headlamp glass, as the existing had a small chip. We also purchased a new ribbed set of period correct over mats (4-piece) from the SL Shop. We even fitted a new MB key ring. Whilst our senior technician has just given this impressive vehicle a multi-point check & monster recommissioning service & 1 hour test drive. He had removed the head, cleaned, checked & fitted a new gasket. Engine oil & filter service, Gear box out & replacement of main seal along with gear box flush, torque converter seal, filter & new gear box oil. Full brake fluid flush & fluid change after fitting new premium front callipers & new rear pads. Fitment of new premium oil cooler front flexi – ribbed pipes again from the SL Shop. Fitment of new prop shaft coupling – rubber doughnut. New Gear selector rod & bushes. Fitment of refurbished power steering box to steering column coupling. Refurbished blower motor & blower motor resister. New NGK plugs, coolant flush & change with accompanying stamp in the book. We have also done a fresh MOT. The paintwork has just undergone a full 3M machine polish & Swissvax treatment to finish our bodywork package & we can confirm it is on the button and ready to enjoy. An impressive & comprehensive history file accompanies the vehicle, containing: V5C, Fresh current MOT, Previous MOT, Original MB service book with approx. 30 stamps, Original MB data card with build details & specification, Approx 30 invoices many from MB, Previous V11, & DVLA letters, Owner’s manual & full book pack in original MB wallet, Chelsea Cars invoice & extended warranty docs. Owner’s insurance docs, Pioneer Stereo Manual. The vehicle is naturally showing as HPI Clear on the data base. We have also taken copious photos of the vehicle being repainted in our workshops which are colour printed for prosperity.
