Why is this car so special and rare? It was the only time Mercedes-Benz collaborated with Porsche on a project and built, what is still seen by many car enthusiasts, as the most over-engineered and best model produced by Mercedes-Benz. As such the E500 W124 holds an iconic place in the hearts of Mercedes-Benz fans, but should also do the same for Porsche enthusiasts as they were really handbuilt by Porsche in conjunction with Mercedes. Whereas a standard W124 took four days to build, the 500E/E500 took eighteen days due to it being sent back and forth between Mercedes and Porsche. Power comes from the 5.0 litre 'M119' V8, producing 322bhp and 354lb-ft of torque (0-60 in 5.8 seconds), driving the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.

This wonderful example is a Japanese import with service records from Japan and an extensive history file since its arrival in the UK. It has been in the same family ownership since 2016 and has covered very little mileage between 2016 and 2024 having been dry stored as part of a private collection. Showing 121,786 kilometres (75,674 miles) on the odometer, this E500 is one of the lowest mileage examples on the market. It is in regular use and will remain so until auction. Its overall condition shows that it has been pampered throughout its 31-year life. The leather interior including seats and side bolsters have been restored by professional interior trimmers, and the Zebrano wood has also been refurbished. The all-important V8 engine is in good order and benefits from having a compression test where it was found to be in healthy running condition. The E500 generally presents in good condition throughout with only minor blemishes to note. In recent times the Mercedes has been maintained by Classic Resto Ltd & Broadley & Holmes Ltd, both reputable Mercedes-Benz specialists with the last service completed in August 2025. Accompanying the car is a file including and extensive service history which also confirms over £14,000 has been spent on maintenance in recent times making this a very well looked after example indeed that is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Offered with an MoT test certificate valid until 16th July 2026 with no advisories, this is an ideal candidate for any serious collector or enthusiast owner. A rare opportunity to acquire a well-presented E500. Consigned by Daniel Godin
