Background:The Mercedes CL600 AMG is a rare fusion of understated luxury and brute force, wrapped in the elegant silhouette of a grand touring coupé. Powered by a hand-built 6-litre V12 engine, this flagship coupé delivers effortless performance with AMG’s signature edge, turning autobahn cruising into a high speed symphony of power and refinement. Though never officially badged as a full AMG model in some markets, the CL600 AMG-spec variants embodied the discreet aggression that defined early 2000s Mercedes performance - stealthy, sophisticated and savagely quick. The Car:In 2003, the CL600 sat at the top of the pile when it came to performance coupés and this AMG version is no exception. Delivered in 2003 in silver over black nappa leather, this example saw regular use throughout most of its life and now sits at just over 77,000 miles. Mechanically, the car feels in excellent condition. There’s more power from the twin-turbocharged V12 than you could ever reasonably need, with no smoke, knocks or squeals coming from the all important heart of this German beast. The gearbox shifts smoothly and effortlessly through all gears, doing an excellent job of transferring power to the rear wheels. The ride quality is impeccable, as expected from a Mercedes of this era, with no knocks or rattles from any corner. Cosmetically there are some exterior areas to note, with signs of corrosion beginning to form, all of which can be seen in the gallery. There are also some scratches and age related marks consistent with a vehicle of this age and mileage. The interior however remains in excellent condition. All high traffic areas show minimal signs of wear and the cabin overall presents very well. All electronics function as intended from the factory. Overall, there are few cars better suited to effortlessly traversing the UK’s motorway network, and the sheer power on offer is something that truly has to be experienced.
