The Espirit was purchased from its long term second owner in 2016 by Mike Younger, co-author of the 'Lotus Espirit' book, who intended to restore it after being dry stored from 1993 until 2018. This didn't happen and the car was acquired by the proprietor of Overbrook Cars, a sports car dealer with interest in Lotus Espirits, who was impressed with the quality of the car and the lack of wear. It joined his collection of fifteen Espirits. Overbrook removed the body from the chassis. The chassis was in very good condition and was stripped, galvanised and re-painted. The bodywork was fully repainted in its original colour. Mechanical work included a new clutch and cam belt, a overhauled starter and work to the cooling system. A new windscreen was fitted and the wheels were refurbished In 2019 the Lotus passed to another enthusiast who contiued with an extensive maintenance program which included rebuilding the headlamp mechanisms, a complete overhaul of the cooling system (uprated radiator, new hoses, fans), refurbishing the carburettors, sorting the heater, a new cambelt, a stainless clutch hose, tyres, and numerous detailed works. There is an extensive history file documenting the work to bring it up to the excellent condition that it is in today, along with invoices and a stamped history book for the period up to 1993 when the Lotus went in to storage. It is in lovely order throughout with superb bodywork and chassis and a very nice, original, interior. A very handsome and striking Espirit.
