1979 LAVERDA JOTA 180 - £14,995
Immensely powered by fully rebuilt 981cc, air-cooled, DOHC inline three-cylinder engine, this Jota is a very capable classic motorcycle and was the fastest production motorbike of its era. The very distinctive 3-1-2 exhaust system produces a fantastic note and tucks underneath the bike allowing for good cornering clearance. The recently serviced twin front and single rear Brembo brake discs offer reassuring stopping power and the rigid frame and rebuilt Marzocchi forks and shocks provide excellent stability through the corners. In 2021, the bike also received a fresh pair of tyres and tubes, a new cam chain, a new exhaust system, new fuel lines, new starter relay, new spark plugs and leads, the carburettors were stripped and cleaned, and the valves were cut and reground. The SFC Orange paintwork has a delightful finish and is complemented extremely well by the shot blasted and coated Silver frame. FNV 740T has sleek lines running throughout, while maintaining a very aggressive and muscular curb appearance. The chromework holds a very bright finish and pieces together what is an exemplary overall condition. This Jota comes with a superb history file accompanied by a repair and tune up guide, and photos from when it was rescued from a barn before its restoration. Jota's inception came when Laverda's UK importers, Slater Brothers, created a tuned a version of the Laverda 1000 3C. They incorporated sporty racing-derived parts such as a free breathing exhaust, and high lift camshafts to provide an extra touch of exuberance. Through racing success of UK Production series wins in 1976, 1978 and 1980, the Jota cemented itself into motorcycle history. Renowned for its bold design, epitomising Italian flair, and its raw performance the Jota has proved popular among collectors and enthusiasts nationwide.
