LAND ROVER SERIES 1 80'' - £18,000
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction - 26th June on Thursday the 26th of June. BackgroundThe Series Land Rovers were the models that established the company’s reputation for rugged, go-anywhere capability. Launched in 1948 as extremely utilitarian 4WD vehicles, they were designed to handle almost any terrain in virtually any conditions. They were used by farmers, the military, emergency and utility services, royalty, VIPs, and everyday drivers alike. Over the years, here at Iconic Auctioneers, in conjunction with Classic Car Auctions, we have been pleased to offer over 150 Land Rovers, including a significant number of early examples. However, it has been a long time since we've seen such an impressive example as the 1950 Series I currently on offer. The CarArguably the holy grail of Land Rovers, this charming example has undergone a full strip-down and rebuild, with the top half carefully preserved in its original, wonderfully patinated condition. The chassis was completely stripped, repaired, and repainted in the correct Land Rover green. It received new springs, swivels, brakes, and a full engine rebuild on the original 1.6-litre engine. The bulkhead was treated similarly and is now in excellent condition. The vendor states that the car drives superbly, shifting through the gears as it should. The weather gear includes the correct bootlace hood, which, while not brand new, is period-correct. The original seats were beyond repair and have been replaced with accurate reproductions sourced from Exmoor Trim. Originally supplied new to the military and built on 10/02/1950, the vehicle comes with a wealth of paperwork, including bills, receipts, a Heritage Certificate, the original buff logbook, and the current V5C.
