The Jensen Interceptor was a grand touring car produced between 1966 and 1976. One of the most coveted versions of this car was the 1974 Jensen Interceptor Convertible, which combined the sleek design and powerful engine of the Interceptor with the open-air experience of a convertible. Under the bonnet, the Jensen Interceptor Convertible featured a 7.2 litre V8 engine capable of producing up to 330bhp. This engine was paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 7.4 seconds. On the outside, the Interceptor Convertible boasted a distinctive design featuring a long bonnet, short rear deck, and a sleek profile.

This example was originally supplied by Charles Follett in Mayfair and has been in our vendor’s ownership for 14 years. The car has always been extremely well cared for, only used on dry sunny days and is said to be an utter joy to drive. The car is presented in metallic grey with a burgundy leather interior and roof. The general condition of the paintwork and chrome is good but some micro blistering has appeared in places and some other small age-related marks. The interior is in excellent condition, it has worn in very nicely. These cars really were the epitome of luxury in their day, the soft top is hydraulically operated, the windows are powered, central locking system is remote controlled and it is also fitted with air conditioning.

The car has been fitted with some nice upgrades to improve both its usability and performance, these include, an adjustable high-power cooling system, high torque starter motor, gas flowed exhaust, highlift camshaft and twin Edelbrock carburettors with a discreet under-dash manual choke installed for easier cold starting. The opportunity to purchase one of these cars is very rare, just 12 cars are understood to remain in the UK and this example is estimated very attractively, with room for some minor improvements. Presented in a very attractive and contemporary colour combination and supplied to auction with a huge history file, we expect this example to generate a great deal of interest.
