This Challenger Triple C Lightweight E Type which is approved by Jaguar, is a recreation of Briggs Cunninghams 1963 Le Mans race car has been completely restored over 20 years and is offered with a full photographic file of engine rebuild and restoration, including all receipts and history file. The car has only covered under 2000 miles since the completion of the restoration and is now MOT and road tax exempt, as modified over 30 years ago and is fully legal for road use. The car is modelled on the race car that came 9th in the 1963 Le Man 24 hour race driven by Briggs Cunningham and Ray Salvatori. The original car changed hands for 1,075,000-00 in February 1990 at Codys auctions in London, subsequent lightweights now trade at over 7,000,000-00 as there are only 12 originals and 7 continuations, the latter however cannot be driven on the road or raced as they are not EURO-NCAP tested. The car car was featured in Which Kit in May 1991 and given a 5 star review (article included). The car is a pleasure to drive attracting many admiring views and welcome at any classic car show, it was featured on the Challenger stand at the classic car exhibition at the NEC in November 2017. Chassis: Steel box section semi monocoque construction, designed by Frank Costin, with front and rear space frames, in unitary construction, to take the front and rear fully adjustable coil over shock suspension, brakes and running gear. Body: Flame retardant 6mm thick GRP composite, laid up in a gel coat colour to match the final colour of the car and is unstressed, being glued, bolted and screwed onto the chassis. Boot and hardtop vents,21 Louvre bonnet vents and rounded splash guards with leather bonnet straps. Engine: Jaguar XK 4.325 Litre completely rebuilt, re-bored with new pistons, new big end, main and cam shaft bearings. New oil pump, timing chains and triple Weber DCOE 45 carburettors. The cylinder head has been gas flowed and polished. Output estimated at 300 BHP. All hoses are blue silicon with stainless steel clamps. Gearbox: Jaguar 4 speed manual fitted with Laycock Deville type A overdrive. Back Axle: Jaguar low ratio differential with inboard disc brakes mounted in a modified cage. Brakes: Front; 4 pot callipers servo assisted vented discs, Rear; inboard discs, dual circuit system using aircraft grade silicon fluid. Wheels & Tyres: Dunlop racing Alloys (5) 5 bolt fixings and triple eared chime spinners fitted with Dunlop SP Sport tyres and space saver spare. Interior: Aluminium checker-plate floors, Sparco race seats fitted with 5 point racing harnesses, custom hand made walnut and aluminium steering wheel and gear stick mounted overdrive switch. Colour coordinated sun visors, rear mounted fire extinguisher. Blue suede headlining and A post covers. Engraved signature of Briggs Cunningham mounted on dashboard. Dimensions: Identical to original series 1 lightweight E Type, dry weight 982 Kg.
