The Honda XL500R was a dual-sport motorcycle produced in the early 1980s, known for its torquey 500cc SOHC single, pro-link rear suspension, and user-friendly kickstart It was introduced in the late 1970s as competition for the popular Yamaha XT500 Various models were offered during its lifespan, including the XL500S/XL500R and Paris Dakar edition This example has been owned by respected collector and journalist Harry Metcalfe since 2019 It was acquired in tribute to Honda’s 1982 Paris–Dakar victory with the XL500R Featured on Harry’s Garage YouTube channel as part of his Paris–Dakar collection Nicely presented and ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian
