HONDA INSIGHT MK. I - £POA
First offered in 2000, the aluminium-bodied Honda Insight boasts a one litre, three-cylinder, 67bhp petrol engine in addition to a 13bhp electric motor. The car's aerodynamic shape and low kerb weight deliver a top speed of well over 100mph all the while delivering 60-70mpg in everyday use. With either a CVT or a five-speed manual gearbox, it rides on skinny tyres for reduced rolling resistance and the engine acts as a generator to recharge the battery under regenerative braking. The interior is more conventional but still offers standard fare such as air-conditioning and electric windows in addition to a wonderfully futuristic digital dashboard display comprising green and amber LEDs as you strive for optimum efficiency! The aluminium bodyshell means that you don't have to worry about rust either and the battery pack has proven to be hugely reliable. Plus, the icing on the cake is that UK cars are zero-rated for road tax and are also ULEZ compliant, making the Insight a very cost-effective way of running a modern classic, especially if you live in a major city.
First registered on 20th March 2001, this low-mileage, manual UK-supplied Honda Insight is finished in Silverstone Silver, it has been cherished and presents in very good condition inside and out. Delightfully original, the dashboard, with its quirky LED design, works well and the door cards, carpets and headlining are very good. It features a pair of 'Honda Insight ACCESS' genuine overmats and is supplied with supporting history, documents and keys along with a comprehensive service history seen until its recent time forming part of an eclectic collection. The car has been warm garage stored, continual charge on both sets batteries, regularly started and benefitted from a recent minor service and MoT test certificate until June 2026 with two new recent front tyres.
A high voltage IMA battery charger has been fitted to the car, which keeps the IMA battery balanced. This technology wasn't available when the car was new and helps prolong battery life beyond the original's capability. Furthermore, there is a IMA control panel fitted which constantly monitors the battery performance. The benefits of the IMA C&C system are manual IMA control, increased mpg, increased performance, lower emissions, stronger assist and regeneration and better management of the IMA battery condition. It also still has its original owner's handbook, stamped service history, book pack, and storage wallet. This was the future…before the future came and the sale proceeds will go to the wonderful Make 2nds Count Cancer charity. Consigned by Mathew Priddy
