The CB400F (or 400/4) was the very first production Japanese motorcycle with the hardware and aesthetics of a truly modern sporting machine 408cc and four cylinders made it smooth and economical compared to its two-stroke rivals Its European-influenced design included low handlebars, rear-set footrests, and a prominent 4-into-1 exhaust Hailed as a "mini-superbike" upon its release, it offered a blend of modern sporty design with a manageable engine size.
