1933 GRAHAM MODEL 68 BLUE STREAK - £37,500
Graham Blue Streak - A milestone in automotive history. A truly remarkable car. The Graham Blue Streak Eight was launched in 1932, designed by the visionary Amos Northup and was one of the most influential cars of it's era. It's flowing water fall grille, aerodynamic bodywork and groundbreaking “banjo” chassis changed automotive design forever. With sloping fenders, partially enclosed wheels, and a wider, lower stance, the Blue Streak became the template for nearly all major American manufacturers by 1934. It wasn’t just admired - it was copied, earning it's famous marketing tagline: “The most imitated car on the road.” It's legend was cemented in 1933 when Erwin “Cannonball” Baker drove a Blue Streak coast-to-coast across the United States in 53.5 hours, a staggering record that stood for almost forty years and later inspired the film: The Cannonball Run. This exceptional example was delivered new to a diamond dealer in Antwerp, Belgium in 1933, and remained within the same family for over 70 years. Confiscated during WWII and later recovered, it also spent some time in the Belgian Congo with the owner at his diamond mine, it then returned to Europe and resided in France, before returning to Belgium, it’s life story is as fascinating as the car itself. Includes: two original headlights - resprayed and recently re-chromed reflectors and headlight decorative rings - reinstallation required, original owners manual and some parts. The Blue Streak Bible by the world’s leading authority on this model. The Graham Blue Streak Eight is officially listed as the 19th most significant car on the United States National Historic Vehicle Register. Of the 10,967 built in 1933, only a handful survive - nearly all held in long-term private collections or museums. Only 26 Blue Streak Standard Eight 64’s known to exist globally by the Graham Owners Club International. A rare opportunity.
