This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction - 26th June on Thursday the 26th of June. Background The Ford Scorpio is an executive car produced by Ford Germany from 1985 to 1998. It replaced the European Ford Granada line and like its predecessor, was aimed at the executive market. A variant known as the Merkur Scorpio was briefly sold in North America during the late 1980s. While Ford’s Taurus was of similar size, Ford saw the need to produce two distinct models – Scorpio buyers valued high-speed stability, a tight turning radius and generous rear legroom, while American customers had different priorities. The Car This particular example rolled off the production line in 1991, one year after the introduction of the 2.9-litre Cosworth V6 engine. Finished in black with a matching black leather interior, this 'Granada-spec' model came fully loaded with all the luxury features available at the time. It is currently MOT’d until May 2026, making it a very usable and unique daily driver. The car has been well maintained and as the photos show, is in remarkable condition. Having covered only a few thousand miles since the early 2000s, it spent many years off the road. According to the vendor, it has been dry-stored and well cared for during this period, resulting in a clean underside with minimal rust. He also reports that the car drives 'superbly' and without fault and that he has been actively enjoying it in recent months. With around 90,000 miles on the clock, the car appears to be in excellent condition. The exterior has only a few minor blemishes, while the interior is equally tidy. The large leather seats – 'armchair-like' in comfort – have been very well preserved, and all dashboard instruments, switches, and electronic features are believed to be fully operational. In Summary A rare and special model from the Ford Motor Company, presented in superb condition. This car would be an excellent addition to any Ford Collection or a treat for the true enthusiast.
